The function of Torque Converter
1. The function of the clutch. When the engine is idling, the torque converter acts as an unengaged clutch between the engine and transmission.
2. The torque-increasing effect produces larger starting and driving torque.
3. Hydraulic coupling effect. Under non-idling or non-starting conditions, it acts as a hydraulic coupling to transmit engine torque to the gearbox.
4. Locking effect. When the turbine speed rises to the same speed as the pump wheel, the lock-up clutch is engaged and the torque converter transmits the engine power to the gearbox in a 1:1 ratio.
